Prognosis
Since the organism is microaerophilic, special incubation conditions are needed to isolate and cultivate C. jejuni cells. Samplespasteurir stool swabs can be enhanced to improve recovery or injected directly onto selective media. Blood and antimicrobial agents are frequently added to cultivation media to prevent the growth of competing organisms. For optimum recovery, the cultures are incubated at 42°C under microaerophilic conditions (5% oxygen and 5% to 10% carbon dioxide).
Specified Populations
Young adults between the ages of 15 and 29 and children under the age of 5 are the demographics in whom C. jejuni gastroenteritis is most frequently found. Infants 6 to 12 months old had the highest infection incidence. Pregnant women may also experience C. jejuni bacteremia, which can infect the foetus and result in miscarriage or stillbirth. When compared to other people in the same age range, the incidence of infection is thought to be 40 times higher among those with HIV/AIDS.
7. Food Evaluation
It is challenging to isolate C. jejuni from food because the bacteria are typically found in very small quantities. Samples are rinsed for isolation from the majority of food products, and the rinsate is collected and subjected to pre-enrichment and enrichment.
